Support activities for international students by Japanese students
YNU has approximately 900 international students. In comparison to other universities in Japan this is considerable number. Therefore, YNU is a great environment for Japanese students to interact with international students. However, merely attending classes does not necessarily provide sufficient opportunities for international students and Japanese to interact with one another. Any YNU students interested in active communication with international students are welcome to join support activities offered by ISC 105 and ISL — authorized by the Director of the International Strategy Organization at YNU. These two groups are always looking for new recruits.
International Student Center 105 (Ichi-Maru-Go) Student staff members are available at the ISC Lobby for three hours during the lunch break (11:30–14:30) for international students who wish to interact or communicate with Japanese students, or students who have questions or concerns. Please note that 105 is closed during the extended holidays.
ISL(International Students Lounge) ISL offers similar services at multi-purpose lounge room inside the Lawson convenience store in the building N10-4. During the semester, it is open to students on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from the hours of 12:10 - 12:50. Student staff members offer a variety of advice, and engineering students in particular are encouraged to drop by.
105 and ISL also organize international events such as welcome parties and interactive exchange excursions. If you are interested in such activities, you are invited to participate.
